How to Purchase an Apple Computer for UNT
Apple Institutional pricing information for UNT can be found at the following web site: http://www.apple.com/edu/unt . Also on that site, you can click on "Recommended Systems" on the upper right hand side of the page to see current campus standard systems as recommended by the UNT Distributed Computing Support Managers.
To qualify for support by MMS, all purchases must include a 3-year "parts-care" maintenance agreement. These items can be found by clicking on the "Special Products" section found on the upper right side of the Apple Store for UNT the web page. The parts-care agreements are included in all of the recommended systems bundles.
Once a recommended system bundle or an alternate system with the matching parts-care agreement has been selected and added to the shopping cart, it is possible to create a proposal that can be e-mailed to you for reference or to your departmental purchasing agent for purchase from the online store via a pcard or from Apple Inc. via a requisition/PO. Questions about execution of the purchase should be directed to UNT Purchasing and Payment Services.
Since MMS is an authorized Apple service center for UNT-owned Apple desktop and notebook computers, UNT purchasers should purchase "parts only" AppleCare," which is less expensive than "complete" AppleCare. AppleCare should be purchased for a period of 3 years (instead of the default 1-year warranty).
Since UNT participates in a centrally-funded Apple Maintenance Program (AMP) for Apple software maintenance/support, computer purchases need to include only the hardware/parts only warranty.
