The mission of CITC's Microcomputer Maintenance Shop (MMS) is to support computing for UNT students, faculty, and staff by providing expertise and services in order to maintain existing microcomputer equipment and assist with the selection and purchase of new computers and upgrade hardware.

MMS Support Policy

MMS is authorized to repair the following UNT-owned computers:

• Dell desktop and notebook computers less than 6 years old
• Apple desktop and notebook computers less than 6 years old
• UNT-built desktop and notebook computers less than 6 years old

Other Hardware: Printers, personal devices (PDA’s, iPods), and data projectors are not supported by MMS.

Server Information : All production servers at UNT should be maintained under a 4-hour vendor service agreement. To supplement this, MMS will (during regular work hours of 8 am - 5 pm, Mon - Fri, when UNT-Denton campus is open)
• Assist with hardware troubleshooting
• Assist with ordering and installation of warranty repair parts
• Assist with transporting repair parts between campus locations

About Warranties:

• As of 5/21/2007, all UNT computer purchases are required to include the purchase of a 3-year hardware warranty. While under warranty, computers are repaired by MMS at without additional charge.
• After the warranty expires, departments will be charged for the cost of repair parts.
• Peripherals, such as monitors, keyboards, and mice, are included in the warranty of the computer with which they were originally purchased.
• Consumable supplies, such as batteries, have limited warranties. For example, most notebook batteries are warranted for one year. Departments are responsible for ordering their own batteries after the warranty expires.
