How do I map network drives in Active Directory?
October 17th, 2008 by Michael Nelson
- Click Start, and then click My Computer.
- If you are in Active Directory, simply type \\citcwin1 or \\citcwin2.
Please refer to the Windows Server Directories below to know which one to connect to.- If you are NOT in Active Directory, you must type the full address \\citcwin1.unt.ad.unt.edu or \\citcwin2.unt.ad.unt.edu
- Navigate to the folder you wish to map to and right-click copy the address. For example, if in Active Directory, the full address to my home drive is \\citcwin2\home\mwn0021, so I would highlight and copy that address.
- At the top of the My Computer window, click Tools and select Map Network Drive...
- In the new dialog box that opens, select whichever letter you would like for this drive to be. In this example, I am mapping my Home drive so I will chose the drive letter H. In the Folder input box, right-click and select paste to insert the address of the drive you wish to map.
- Make sure you check the Reconnect at logon option.
- Click the Finish button. Now you should have this drive mapped in My Computer.
